Share a Claude artifact privately with a client

Claude built a proposal, a dashboard or a mockup for one client. You want them to open it on their phone without signing up for anything, and you don't want it on the open web. Paste the code here, add a password, and send them a link such as acme-proposal.flatpage.page with the password.

Short answer

Publish the artifact's HTML on Flatpage, then turn on a password and "Hide from search" for that site. Send the link and the password separately. The viewer needs no account of any kind. Passwords need the Starter plan or above.

Three steps to a private link

  1. Publish the artifact's code

In Claude, copy the artifact's code or download it as an .html file. Sign in here and paste the code or drop the file. The link is ready in seconds.
  2. Add a password, hide it from search

On the site, choose Add password (at least 6 characters; Starter or Plus), then Hide from search so search engines don't list it.
  3. Send the link and the password

Send them in different messages, for example the link by email and the password by text.

What the person you share with sees

They tap the link and get a plain page that asks for the password. After they enter it, your page opens, and their browser remembers it for 30 days. No sign-up, no app, no "request access" button. Too many wrong guesses from one place are blocked for 15 minutes.

Why not just use Claude's Share button?

Claude's Share button is the quickest option when the other person uses Claude. Anthropic's help centre says everyone needs a Claude account to open a shared artifact made since 16 September 2026, and on Team and Enterprise plans artifacts stay inside the organization unless an Owner turns on external sharing. There is no password option. If your client doesn't use Claude, or you want a password rather than an account, a hosted copy is the simpler route. The Claude artifact guide compares the two side by side.

Password, hidden from search, or both?

  • Hidden from search (every plan) keeps the page out of Google and other search engines. Anyone who has the link can still open it. Good for pages that aren't secret but shouldn't turn up in a search for your client's name.
  • Password (Starter and Plus) means only people who know it can open the page. A protected page can't be read by search engines either.
  • Both is what we suggest for client work: the password protects the content, and if you later remove the password to show the page more widely, it still stays out of search.

Before you send it

  • Open the link in a private (incognito) window. That's what your client sees, without your logins.
  • Open it on your phone. Pages Claude designs on a wide screen sometimes need a quick "make this work on mobile" pass.
  • Check for anything you wouldn't want forwarded. A password keeps strangers out, but the client can still share what they see.

When Flatpage isn't the right fit

If each viewer needs their own login, or you need to know exactly who opened the page and when, you need a client portal or a document sharing tool with per-person access. And if the artifact's main job is to call Claude (a chatbot or an analysis tool), a hosted copy keeps the layout but not the AI.

Questions

Does the person I send it to need an account?
No account of any kind: not Claude, not ours, not Google. They open the link, type the password once, and see the page. Their browser remembers it for 30 days.
Which plan do I need?
Passwords come with Starter and Plus. Hiding a site from search engines works on every plan, including Free, but on its own it doesn't stop someone who has the link from opening it.
Can someone get around the password by viewing the source?
No. The password is checked on our server before any of the page is sent. Until someone enters it, the browser receives only the password form, never your HTML.
What if the link and password get forwarded?
Change the password from your dashboard. Everyone who unlocked the page with the old one is signed out of it straight away and needs the new one.
Can I see who opened it?
Your dashboard shows how many times the page was opened, not who opened it. We don't track individual visitors.
Can I limit it to certain email addresses instead of a password?
Not yet. Today a site is either public or protected by one password that you share.
Can I update the page after the client's feedback?
Yes. Paste the new version into the same site. The link and the password stay the same, so the client just refreshes.
