Publish from Claude and ChatGPT

Add Flatpage to your assistant once. Then say "publish this page" and get a link such as spring-menu.flatpage.page. Later say "update the menu page" and the same link shows the new version.

Short answer

Add a custom connector with the URL https://flatpage.app/mcp and sign in when asked. It works in Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code and Cursor, on every Flatpage plan.

Set it up in claude.ai

  1. Add a custom connector

    In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. Name it Flatpage and paste https://flatpage.app/mcp as the URL.
  2. Sign in and allow it

    Choose Connect. A Flatpage window opens: sign in with your email or Google and choose Allow.
  3. Ask for a link

    In a chat, turn the connector on and ask "publish this as a page called spring-menu". Claude answers with the link.

ChatGPT

ChatGPT adds custom connectors in developer mode. Open Settings, then Apps and Connectors, turn on Developer mode under Advanced, and create a connector with the URL https://flatpage.app/mcp and OAuth as the authentication. Sign in and allow it, then pick it from the tools menu in a chat. Which plans can use developer mode is up to OpenAI.

Claude Code

Run this once, then type /mcp in Claude Code to sign in:

claude mcp add --transport http flatpage https://flatpage.app/mcp

Cursor and other MCP clients

Add the server to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or your client's MCP settings) and sign in when it asks:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "flatpage": { "url": "https://flatpage.app/mcp" }
  }
}

Clients that can't sign in can send an API key instead, as an Authorization: Bearer header. Create one in your dashboard under Settings.

The Claude skill

The skill teaches Claude how to publish well: keep the same link when updating, make pages self-contained, pick a good link name. It uses the connector when it's there and the API otherwise.

  • claude.ai: download flatpage.zip and upload it under Settings, Capabilities, Skills.
  • Claude Code: save it to your skills folder.
    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/flatpage
    curl -o ~/.claude/skills/flatpage/SKILL.md https://flatpage.app/skills/flatpage/SKILL.md

What the assistant can do

  • Publish a page it wrote, or a .zip site or a PDF, optionally with the link name you want.
  • Update a site at the same link.
  • List your sites and show views for the last 30 days.
  • Rename a site's link (the old one redirects for 30 days) and delete one when you ask.

For scripts and CI, the same actions are in the REST API.

Questions

Which plan do I need?
Any plan, Free included. The connector uses your plan's limits: the number of sites, file sizes and uploads per day. Each connected app also gets 200 calls a day.
Do I have to paste an API key?
Not in Claude or ChatGPT: you sign in to your account in a pop-up and allow the app. Claude Code and Cursor sign in the same way. API keys are for scripts and for tools that can't sign in.
Will it make a new link every time I change the page?
No. Ask it to update the page you published and it replaces the content at the same link, so a QR code or a link you've already sent keeps working.
Can the assistant delete my sites?
Only when you ask it to, and it has to confirm the site's name first. It can't see your billing or change your plan.
How do I disconnect it?
Remove the connector in the app, or open Settings in your dashboard and choose Disconnect next to the app. It stops working straight away.
Is what I publish checked?
Yes, the same way as the dashboard: every upload is virus-scanned and checked for phishing, and a few are held for a short review.
