Flatpage vs Cloudflare Drop
Cloudflare Drop, launched in July 2026, puts a dragged folder on Cloudflare's network in seconds, free, and then asks you to claim it within an hour. Flatpage is a small host built for sharing pages and PDFs with people: no nameservers to change, PDFs in a viewer, a QR code for every site and a person to email. Every Cloudflare fact below links to Cloudflare's docs as they read on 2 November 2026.

Side by side
| Feature | Flatpage | Cloudflare Drop |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free for one site. Starter $9 a month (5 sites), Plus $19 a month (10 sites). Flat prices, no usage charges. | Free. A claimed site runs on Workers, where requests to static assets are free and unlimited. Source |
| Trying it | Sign in with your email or Google before you upload. The link is yours from the first upload. | No account to start. The preview stays live for 1 hour; claim it into a Cloudflare account to keep it. Source |
| If you don't claim it | Nothing to claim: the site is in your account from the first upload. | The claim must be completed within 60 minutes, or Cloudflare deletes the temporary account and its resources. Source |
| Files | HTML or zip up to 10 MB on Free and 500 MB on Plus, up to 2,000 files; PDFs up to 25 MB on Free. | Static HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images and fonts. Up to 1,000 files, each up to 5 MiB, before the claim. Source |
| PDFs | PDFs open in a built-in viewer on phones and computers, on every plan. | Not listed among the accepted file types. Source |
| QR codes | A QR code for every site, on every plan. It points at the site's own link, so it keeps working when you replace the file. | Not offered in the Drop flow. Source |
| Private links | Starter and Plus: one password per site. Visitors need no account. | After claiming, “Control access” makes the site private with Cloudflare Access policies, where you choose who can sign in. Source |
| Custom domain | Not yet. Every site gets its own HTTPS link on our domain. | Needs the domain as an active zone on Cloudflare, which means moving its DNS (nameservers) to Cloudflare. Source |
| After it's live | Replace the file from the dashboard; the link and QR code stay the same. | A claimed site becomes a Worker in your account, with observability and Markdown for Agents available. Source |
Use Cloudflare if...
- You want it free and unlimited. Static requests on Workers don't cost anything, however busy the site gets.
- You're comfortable with DNS, or your domain already uses Cloudflare. Then a custom domain is a few clicks.
- The site will grow into an app with server code, a database or sign-in. A claimed Drop is a Worker, ready for that.
- You want sign-in based access for a team, with Cloudflare Access.
Use Flatpage if...
- You don't want to touch DNS or set up a developer account. Sign in with your email and drop the file.
- It's a PDF, such as a menu, a CV or a brochure, and people will open it on their phones.
- You need a QR code to print, that keeps working when you update the file.
- You want to send a page to a client with a password, without your client needing an account.
- You want a person to answer when something's wrong.
Questions
- Is Cloudflare Drop free?
- Yes. Dropping a site costs nothing and needs no account for the first hour. To keep it, you claim it into a free Cloudflare account, where requests to static assets are free and unlimited.
- What happens if I miss the one-hour claim window?
- Cloudflare's docs say the claim has to be completed within 60 minutes; if it isn't, Cloudflare deletes the temporary account and what was deployed to it. Drop the folder again to get a new preview.
- Do I need to change my nameservers?
- On Cloudflare, only if you want your own domain: a Worker's custom domain has to be a zone on Cloudflare. On Flatpage, every site gets an HTTPS link without touching DNS.
